Graduation in Chanleas Dai

The PEPY Team Journal

lauraOn July 22nd, Chanleas Dai Primary School celebrated their graduation day. The day featured guest speakers, awards for high performing students and teachers, and the presentation of the third class of PEPY's Bike-to-School Program bikes. This year, due to a food shortage and fear of another year of near-drought conditions, a gift of rice was also included in the graduation ceremony. Laura Bradley, a new intern with PEPY, reflects on the day.

Welcome to PEPY, Laura!

We wanted to highlight the relationship between The PEPY Ride and PEPY Tours to more clearly illustrate how tour participant donations as well as trip fees are used to support sustainable development and education programs in Cambodia. Click here for a better understanding of how PEPY operates and why we define our work as a social venture.

Responsible Tourism Statement

The PEPY Team Journal

pepy logoThe PEPY team is committed to monitoring its impact and working to minimize the negative effects of both its tourism and development programs. In the last three years we have witnessed the impact from our work in Cambodia, noted what works and what does not, and learned what ways we can challenge ourselves and our tour participants to be agents for positive change around issues we believe in. Nearly a year ago we gathered to write down our ethos on this website, but we have realized that it does not cover all of the forces that drive our decision making. Having struggled internally many times about where to draw the line with our tour governance, some arguing when they think we are "pushing people too hard", others stepping up when they think we are creating tours which are only "preaching to the choir", we are well versed in drawing lines about what makes PEPY "PEPY". In a joint effort with Responsible Nomad, the PEPY team worked to gather all of the guidelines and challenges we have set for ourselves and the ideas that make our tours as "PEPY" as they can be. Check out our Responsible Tourism Statement and let us know what you think. Feel free to get in contact or leave us a comment below if you have questions about this statement, think we missed something, or want to learn more.
